How Mindfulness Can Help You Build A Better Relationship With Yourself | Evelina Hovich | Mindset Coaching

When it comes to manifesting the relationship of your dreams, what’s the most important relationship to consider?

Your partner?

Your best friend?

Your parents?

Not quite.

The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship in your entire life.

And yet, most of us aren’t taught how to develop this relationship, how to connect, and how to love thyself.

Relationships take work, and your relationship with yourself is no different.

Offering empowerment life coaching services means helping with many different aspects of life, but a lot of it begins with the relationship you have with yourself.

Getting To Know Yourself

It’s easy to get absorbed by the various minutiae of daily life, isn’t it?

Responsibilities with your career, family, friends, parents, spouse, and so on – you can end up feeling like you’re being pulled in a hundred different directions at once.

When that happens, you may feel like you’re losing your sense of self.

This is where anxiety lives – your mind lives both in the future and the past at the same time.

It’s constantly pushing you to prepare for the next thing that might go wrong, while at the same time fretting over what happened in the past and what you should have done differently.

On the other hand, calmness, confidence, love – these can best be expressed in the here and now.

That’s where mindfulness comes into play.

Mindfulness, put simply, is the practice of being fully present and aware of where we are and what we’re doing.

It’s not a reactive state, nor is it a judgmental one.

Naturally, one can’t be in a mindful state all the time, but creating a mindfulness practice can do wonders for your relationship with yourself.

This practice can take the form of meditation, journaling, creating a vision board, or even nature walks or athletic practices.

Whatever the case, when you practice mindfulness, it quiets your mind and allows you to feel more connected to yourself.

You can even have a conversation with your inner being, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself.

Here are some of the ways mindfulness can help you develop a better relationship with yourself, and in turn help you manifest the life of your dreams.

1. Mindfulness Helps You Develop Better Awareness

It’s easy for us to recognize the traits within ourselves that we see as negative.

If you have a tendency to want to control everything in your life, for example, or you have a tendency of catastrophizing, you might already be perfectly aware of it.

This is especially true if you were raised by guilt tripping or judgmental parents.

On the other hand, we don’t always recognize our best qualities.

This is an unrealistic viewpoint – everybody has areas of their life they want to improve, but we also all have many positive qualities.

When we recognize our strengths and weaknesses, the more aware we become of where we’re at, the better we decide what we want to change and improve.

Mindfulness can help us develop a better awareness, which helps to manifest a more confident mindset.

It helps us understand what qualities to accentuate, and which ones to work on improving.

It can also help us recognize what it is that’s been holding us back so we can commit to transforming these limiting beliefs and habits.

2. It Helps You To Be More Compassionate To Yourself

We all have an inner critic.

And it’s not even necessarily a bad thing.

Your inner critic lets you know when you’re doing something you know is incongruent with your core values.

But it can go overboard.

How often have your found yourself on the fast train down the self criticism hill?

When your inner critic takes too large of a role, it can create both anxiety and depression.

It forces you to relive, over and over, embarrassing experiences of the past, to focus on every minor mistake you’ve made over the years.

But while we all have moments in our lives where we wish we did things differently, it doesn’t help to remain fixated on them.

This certainly isn’t helpful to move forward with building the life of your dreams.

Practicing mindfulness can help you change these habits of self criticism.

It can allow your mind to be at peace long enough for these thoughts to become more tangible, rather than a messy morass lying beneath the surface.

When they do, it can be helpful to address your inner critic directly, visualizing how you might respond to them as though they were your best friend talking to you.

For many of us, inner criticism is one of the largest barriers standing in the way of manifesting our dream lives, and a mindfulness practice can help work through them.

3. It Allows You To See What You’re Missing

When you’ve spent so much time on autopilot, you might have the sense that something isn’t right.

You’ll feel stuck, frustrated, and not even necessarily be able to put your finger on exactly why that’s the case.

The process of manifesting the life of your dreams involves getting out of your own way, but if you don’t know what you’re in the way of, it’s much more difficult.

After all, the first step toward solving a problem is in understanding what that problem actually is.

Are you hoping to manifest a healthier lifestyle?

If so, mindfulness will help you have more awareness in the areas of your life – sleep, exercise, diet, mental health practice, self care, etc – you’ve been neglecting.

Do you believe you’re deserving of a life of great abundance?

You absolutely are – but if you’re not currently living that, a mindfulness practice can help you understand the mental barriers in the way of your being able to truly accept the great gifts the universe has to offer.

Recognizing and changing the habits and patterns keeping you feeling stuck is one of the keys to manifesting your dream life.
