What To Consider Before Creating Your Vision Board | Evelina Hovich | Mindset Coaching

If you’ve spent any time reading about manifesting the life of your dreams or how life and manifestation coaching works, you’ve almost certainly come across the idea of creating a vision board.

You may have even read about them on this blog.

We’ve talked about them in the past, including looking at some of the possible reasons why your vision board isn’t working and the science behind how vision boards work, but what we haven’t talked about yet is the process of actually making a vision board.

Now, this is a blog about many different things, and in my practice as a life coach I offer many different coaching options.

There’s dating and relationship coaching, wellness and lifestyle coaching, confident mindset coaching, wealth and abundance coaching, and much more.

But when you really come down to it, my practice – and by extension, this blog – is really about one thing.

It’s about how to manifest the life of your dreams.

And a vision board can be a powerful tool for helping make that happen.

Let’s take a look at what a vision board actually is, and some important questions to ask yourself when creating your vision board.

What Is A Vision Board?

A vision board is essentially a collage.

It’s a collection of images that represent the dream life you want to manifest.

This can take the form of a literal board you stick on the wall and attach pictures to – some people like using a cork board – but it can also be in digital form.

The important part is that it’s in a place where you’ll see it regularly.

A vision board can help provide a focus for your thoughts and meditations as you work to manifest the life of your dreams.

They can inspire positive emotions by helping you imagine a positive future.

Now, all that might seem simple at first – just attach some images that inspire you to a board and stick it on your wall.

But there’s more to it than that.

In fact, the process of creating a vision board has a lot to do with understanding what your dream life actually looks like in the first place.

Here are some things to consider before you start putting together your vision board.

1. Consider What Actually Motivates You

A vision board should be inspiring, so it’s important to remember that your vision board should be full of images that inspire YOU.

But what’s inspiring to you might not be inspiring to others and vice versa, so it’s important to make this a personal experience.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in what other manifestation gurus and life coaches talk about when they’re living their dream lives, but if that’s not for you, that’s okay.

In fact, it’s to be expected – the art of manifesting your dream life is about living life on YOUR terms, not according to the expectations others may have of you.

Some dream of a lavish lifestyle, full of tropical vacations, trips on airplanes, and designer clothes.

If that’s the case, your vision board will be full of images along those lines, because that’s what you find motivating.

But you might also be the type who doesn’t care about such things, and if you don’t, then filling your vision board with related images isn’t going to be very motivating for you.

Maybe it’s more leisure time you dream of, or a better relationship with your parents.

Maybe you’re hoping to establish healthier habits, or a deeper emotional connection with your romantic partner.

Maybe you dream of living in a modest house out in the country, with a sense of community and purpose.

Or maybe you crave greater creative freedom – the time, space, and energy to make music, paint, sculpt, or write.

Some of these examples may resonate with you, but your dream life might look completely different as well.

And that’s okay, either way.

I mention those possibilities not as a way to push you into manifesting a specific life for yourself, but as food for thought to consider when exploring what you want your dream life to look like.

If your dream life looks different, that’s wonderful – manifest YOUR dream life.

Once you start to get clearer on what your dream life might look like, you’ll have a much better idea of what will motivate you to begin manifesting it – and what can go on your vision board to help you make it happen.

The universe has great gifts in store for every one of us, but the specifics of what that looks like are different for everybody.

And that’s a good thing – because wouldn’t life be boring if we were all the same?

2. Consider Your Values

The reason why the law of attraction is so powerful in manifestation work is because it helps us to align our thoughts with what we want to attract in our lives.

If you focus on negativity, you attract more negativity into your life.

On the other hand, if you remain in a state of gratitude and positivity, you can attract more of the same.

But the law of attraction becomes even more powerful when the life you want to manifest aligns with your values.

After all, achieving your goals won’t leave you with a sense of genuine satisfaction unless they’re aligned with what you value most.

What are the values or ideals that really matter to you in life?

When we talk about values, that doesn’t mean the material things you find important, but core elements of the idealized form of yourself you strive to become.

As a general rule of thumb, values are things that can’t be taken away from you.

These can be things like:

  • Altruism
  • Bravery
  • Cleverness
  • Compassion
  • Determination
  • Empathy
  • Generosity
  • Gratitude
  • Honesty
  • Humility
  • Ingenuity
  • Integrity
  • Kindness
  • Loyalty
  • Selflessness
  • Spirituality
  • Tolerance
  • Trustworthiness

Do any of those values resonate with you?

Are there others you can think of that resonate better?

Consider which of these you find the most important, and how your goals align with them.

Keep these values in mind when you’re finding images for your vision board.
